Posts
The Daily Geode shares facts about real rocks, minerals and fossils. This site lists where each fact comes from and who took each photo, so you can check our work.
How we check facts
Every fact in a post is checked against at least two reputable sources before it is published. We favor geological surveys, museums, universities, government agencies, peer-reviewed journals and established gemological institutes. If we can only find one good source for a claim, the claim is cut.
How we choose photos
- We use real photos of real specimens and places. No AI-generated images.
- Every photo is free to use and properly licensed: public domain, CC0, or CC BY (with credit).
- Edits are kept light: cropping, resizing, gentle sharpening or color/contrast correction, plus our text and graphics. Each post page lists the edits made.
- Diagrams and sketches marked "by The Daily Geode" are our own.
